The introduction of a new ship is expectedly a special occasion. 
But the introduction of three new ships at once is indeed very special.
Late one morning in sthe Spring of 1993, several dozen travel writers and cruise editors, newspapers columnists and even a well known television personality gathered at New York's Essex House Hotel for an important press conference - 'a birth announcement', if you will - and gala lucheon afterwards.

Mr John Chandris, the London-based chairman of the Chandris Group, took the podium. He is the son of Antony J. Chandris, one the genius-like brothers who built up one of the world's best known shipping companies, Greece's Chandris Liners.
