The history of the Royal Naval Photographic Branch 1919-1998
The Royal Navy Photographic Branch was formed in 1919, when its primary purpose was to assist gunnery trials and analysis.
Since that time it has remained an important unit within the RN and its task has broadened into the realm of air-to-air/sea photography, reconnaissance work, wartime reportage and press relations photography.
